MASTUURA SHIGENOBU
松浦重信
Mastuura Hizen-no-kami Shigenobu studied Cha-n-yu under Katagiri Iwami-no-kami Tadamasa.
松浦肥前守重信は片桐石見守貞昌に茶の湯を学びました。
He became a great master and finally founded a school of his own called after him the Chinshin-ryu.
彼は偉大な茶人となり鎮信流と言う茶道一派を造りました。
He always impressed on his pupils these principles: “Tea may be an amusement from one point of view, but you will find that the same principles are implicit in it as in the military art.
彼は弟子達に常に以下の戒めを指導していました。「茶は一面から見れば一つの娯楽であるが、武の芸術としての原則が根底にあることを理解出来るだろう。
Cha-no-yu insists on the unity of things, and also on the most careful attention to details, in that the most unremitting vigilance must be exercised in very small point of the ceremony.
茶の湯はその事を指し示す、詳細中でもっともそれを重要視する。その茶の所作の細部に対し、間断なく細心の探求をしなければならない。
It also taxes the fertility of a man's resources when, as often happens, a situation crops up that is not provided for in the fixed rules.
人の富に税を課す時、しばしば起きるが、一定の決まり事にそった出来具合に沿わない場合もある。
If you are proficient in these things you are not likely to be found wanting in any military problem.”
もし熟達していたら、いかなる武人としての諸問題に対処出来ないことはないだろう。」
It was the custom of the Mastuura house to keep a club in the bathroom, and though, this was discontinued by Ike-no-kami Kiyoshi, a descendant of Shigenobu, when the residence was altered, it was again restored at the instance of the scholar Hayashi Jusai as a fine example of the ancestral foresight, as was also Kato Kiyomasa's privy with two doors.
この言葉は伝統として松浦家の浴室に残っていましたが、末裔である Ike-no-kami Kiyoshi によって改められ建物は改築されました。がその後、学者である Hayashi Jusai が加藤清正の二つの門にあったものを先祖伝来の戒めとして再び想起させました。
